Yoga belts and straps are used in many styles of yoga and help you to 'bind' in a pose by extending your current reach. For example, if you are unable to hold your toes or feet in Paschimottanasana (seated forward bend), you can loop the belt around your feet and fold forwards within your current capacity holding the belt. The binding element of poses is introduced to make an energetic connection and the belt helps you to feel that you've made this in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
